How To Correctly Trim A Goldendoodle?
First things first, one of the biggest questions that you might currently have is how to go about correctly trimming a Goldendoodle.
Regardless of whether you plan on taking your Goldendoodle to get professionally trimmed by a professional groomer, or you’re planning on learning how to maintain your dog’s coat in-between appointments – it’s a good idea to make sure that you’ve gotten your head around trimming, especially as Goldendoodle’s have such unique, thick coats.
Follow the steps below to correctly trim.
Make sure you have the proper equipment: Before you even think about attempting to trim your Goldendoodle’s fur, you should first make sure that you have the necessary tools to ensure a pain-free and seamless trimming experience.
Ideally, we recommend that you make sure you have (at the very least) nail clippers, a comb suitable for your Goldendoodle, as well as a general slicker brush.
It’s important to make sure that you have these three pieces of grooming equipment, as these will ensure that your dog’s coat and nails are maintained properly while waiting for their monthly grooming appointment to come around.
Alongside these, you may also find that you need scissors and a detangler.
Set up your space: After you have the correct equipment, set up your space and ensure that the environment is safe and appropriate for grooming your dog.
If possible, we recommend that you use a table where possible, as this will allow you to trim more easily.
Begin the trimming: After you have got the right tools and set up the appropriate space to trim, you will now be ready to begin.
Detangle your dog’s fur, before then beginning to trim all of the areas that you see fit. If needed, you could ask a friend or family member to comfort and hold your Goldendoodle while you trim.
Alongside these, you may also find that you need scissors and a detangler.
Alongside all of the above, you should also make sure that you allow your Goldendoodle to be allowed to familiarise themselves with all of the tools you plan on using to groom them before you begin the grooming session.
Some dogs can become fearful and anxious about things that they are not used to, so it’s a good idea to give your dog plenty of time to check out the equipment for themselves, on their own terms.
We also highly recommend that you ensure to give your Goldendoodle plenty of praise throughout the session so that they know they are being good, and even reward them with some of their favorite treats, too.
Of course, you will also need to ensure that you have plenty of patience throughout the grooming, but seeing as you’re already the owner of an energetic Goldendoodle – we’re sure you’ll have no issues mastering that one!
How To Trim Goldendoodle’s Face?
Whether your Goldendoodle’s grooming appointment has been canceled or you’re simply wanting to learn how to trim your Goldendoodle’s face yourself and save some money, we’re sure that you’ll be glad to hear that trimming your Goldendoodle’s face is easy – so long as you know-how!
First, you’re going to need to make sure that you have all of the necessary grooming tools you’ll need to be able to ensure that your dog’s face is trimmed safely.
For the best and safest results, we recommend that you get yourself a pair of dog facial scissors alongside your steel comb and shears.
After you’ve done that, you should then make sure that you have a spacious area to trim your Goldendoodle, and preferably have a table for elevation.
Once you’ve got all of your tools, you should then give your Goldendoodle some time to get used to the tools so that they won’t be fearful of it.
From there, take your comb and begin to gently comb your dog’s facial fur to get rid of any tangles, making sure to give your Goldendoodle plenty of praise throughout.
Then, begin by gently trimming the hair around your Doodle’s eyes, getting rid of any hair that may be interfering with your dog’s sight.
Then, take the scissors and begin trimming all of the overgrown hair at the ends, before then taking your sears to help create a more uniform cut.
After that, you should then brush the “beard” area of your Goldendoodle and thin it out with the scissors, gently working your way up to the forehead area until you reach the brows.
How Often Do You Bathe Goldendoodle?
No matter whether you’ve got a Goldendoodle puppy or a loveable adult Doodle, you’ll need to make sure that you’re regularly cleaning them to ensure they stay nice and clean!
Ideally, you’re likely going to find that you need to clean your Goldendoodle around once a month, as cleaning your Goldendoodle will likely cause your dog’s coat to dry out and potentially even aggravate the skin underneath.
However, if you happen to have a Goldendoodle that likes to jump in muddy puddles or loves to get active outdoors – then you’ll likely find yourself needing to clean your Goldendoodle more often.
How To Clean Goldendoodle Ears?
It’s important to make sure that you’re cleaning your Goldendoodle’s ears at least once every week or so in order to prevent any ear infections or build-up of wax.
